God the Artist

You know how kids are usually afraid to get shots?  (Let's be real, a lot of adults are too, they're just better at putting on a strong face...no one likes pokes.)  It's a scary moment when we stare down that long needle.  Child spies needle = tears, wailing, etc.  But as adults, we know that despite the perceived pain, shots are for a child's good.  Shots are a means through which we might be healthier, stronger.

God has given me a lot of shots lately.  Things in life that seemed really unpleasant and even painful in the moment but have ultimately produced strength and perseverance.  I see a shot.  God sees a poke that produces health and life.  I see my view, God sees the big picture

Meet a sidewalk in Spain.  I took these pictures this summer not knowing how I'd use them.  I later realized the beautiful illustration they create.

My view

God's view

Sometimes it's hard for us to see the aerial view of our lives.  Yet when we ask God to show us, we can see the beautiful art He is creating amidst our "shots."  He is, after all, an Artist.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us
(2 Corinthians 4:7)
