Hello Galena!

This weekend my husband so graciously swept me away to Galena, Illinois for a fun spring/birthday weekend.  Besides venturing to a different state, we almost felt as though we were transplanted to the streets of a small European village.  Charming.  Simply charming.

Our adventures started by shuffling through the afternoon crowds from one little shop to another little shop.

Silly

Our favorite shop, The Galena Canning Company.  Tons of yummy samples, fun  music, and interesting people

Matthew and I decided to go on a restaurant crawl--drinks, tapas, delicious.  We made our way through about four different places and loved them ALL!

Our absolute favorite restaurant, Fritz and Frites.  We felt like we were walking into France.  Close tables and lots of delicious food!  The only difference was that the wait staff was friendly...
Cheddar Ale Fondue with some Belgian and French Ales at 111 Main

We were able to visit the cutest coffee shop before heading back to Iowa on Sunday.  It was a really refreshing way to start the day and even Matthew was impressed with the coffee!

Needless to say, we will be going back to Galena again :)
